Madeline Hocking & Semiosis Quartet work with emerging composers on string composition at the prestigious Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
This will be a 12-day masterclass and workshop series for young composition students, held at the world famous Boston Conservatory at Berklee (Boston, MA). The intensive will also include two faculty recitals by Semiosis Quartet at Seully Hall, involving the world premieres of countless new compositions.

Award-winning guitarist Joseph Ehrenpreis will embark on a recital tour through Japan, featuring a commissioned composition by Madeline Hocking for solo 8-string Brahms guitar. The tour will showcase an eclectic program of other repertoire by Vinetz, Fujikura, Britten, Ravel, and Shimizu.
Performances are scheduled in Tokyo, Niigata, Osaka, and Oishida, promising a musical experience that transcends borders and genres. Stay tuned for specific dates, as this promises to be a highlight of the 2024 concert season!

On April 14, 2024, Madeline Hocking will join the Manhattan String Quartet to give workshops and masterclasses to amateur musicians and music students on Joseph Haydn’s String Quartets. This event will be held at the Greenwich House Music School, NYC.
Described by the Boston Globe as “a national treasure,” the MANHATTAN STRING QUARTET is celebrating its 51st season. Well known for their performances of 20th-century “classics,” the Manhattan Quartet has established a significant international reputation with regular concert appearances throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia. Notable among its many recordings is the complete cycle of 15 Shostakovich string quartets that TIME Magazine called “One of the most important musical events of 1991.” They hold regular workshops on classical quartet repertoire, occurring in the fall and spring of each year.
Madeline Hocking will join this legendary string quartet in instructing young and amateur musicians on Haydn’s String Quartet no. 3 opus 50 in Eb Major. Don’t miss this opportunity to work with these world class string performers; register today!

In the final week of the Evolution: Classical music festival at the Banff Centre, participating artists perform innovative and varied concert curations, with interdisciplinary performance, mixed media, original compositions, improvisation, and more.
This concert features Obsidiano Duo, Claudia Do Minh, and Noise Catalogue, with the latter ensemble performing the world premiere of a work by Jemina Brechoire, as well as original compositions and structured improvisation.

Semiosis Quartet coaches composition students on their works for string quartet, gives the world premiere of over a dozen new works for string quartet by HSCI students, and performs a faculty chamber music recital in Seully Hall.
A very special Telematic Collisions performance on Make Music Day, featuring improvisations by Madeline Hocking & Trevor New, as well as other guest musicians. Both virtual and in-person attendance is possible, with a live audience hosted at the Art Effect ‘Trolley Barn’ in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Noise Catalogue is happy to present this special interdisciplinary performance featuring live painting by Knox Peters, as well as spacialized sound and structured improvisation.
Knox will create visual artwork alongside works by Bahar Royaee, György Ligeti, Pamela Z, George Crumb, and Dániel Matei, along with the world premieres of works by Madeline Hocking and Thomas Palmer.
